Portraits of Saints: The Spirit is Shining Through Them
Did you know that creating an icon and what you might learn in an art class have very little in common? Making an icon is a process and meant to make a connection from the viewer to beyond the image. Icons help us remember the exemplary character and noble deeds of the saints.

Make your own Painted Icon with Rachel Nicholson
Sunday, March 11, 1pm
For children, youth and imaginative adults

Prior to the workshops, please consider a saint you would like to focus on. It could be someone from the Bible as in traditional Franciscan or Orthodox iconography. It could be someone who was important in your life, someone who has lived a holy life. The title “saint” as understood by Presbyterians belongs to those who have been united with Christ, ordinary people who had extra-ordinary faith. Perhaps you would like to honor a West Raleigh saint.
